Introducing MTNPT

As mountain athletes, we demand a lot out of our bodies. Whether you’re a member of the military, a mountain hunter, or a backcountry athlete, our work and lifestyle can eventually leave us with a high rate of shoulder and elbow issues, hip and ankle injuries, and significant back pain/injury — if we’re not careful. We are here to help you avoid those issues, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce MTNPT to our community.

When we surveyed MTNTOUGHers about what kind of programming you wanted to see, athletes from all over the country and globe resoundingly asked for more content around mobility, durability, injury prevention, and pain reduction. We heard you loud and clear. We knew we would need an amazing partner for this new program, so we tracked down the best of the best: Dr. Tom Walters, DPT, OCS.

Tom has over 15 years of experience treating people with orthopedic injuries and pain. Originally from Montana, Tom started Rehab Science with the mission of helping his clients address pain proactively so they can continue to live healthy, active lives. He is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

As impressive as his credentials are, Tom’s approach to his work is even more inspiring. Throughout his career, he has been dedicated to helping as many people as possible through his work. As he puts it, he is driven simply by “doing something positive to reach a lot of people.” Tom runs an amazing Instagram account (@rehabscience) that has over 880,000 followers. Each week, Tom gives his community an amazing wealth of information, scientific research, and achievable exercises that help hundreds of thousands of people to understand and alleviate pain while improving mobility.

We collaborated with Tom to create MTNPT programming specialized for mountain athletes. Our goal is to give the MTNTOUGH community tools and skills to address injury and stay healthier and more mobile as we age. This exciting new suite of content will be available in MTNTOUGH+ and is offered in a way that you can easily find content geared towards your needs. Whether you are dealing with ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, lower back, or spine issues, MTNPT will give you great methods to prevent injury and recovery strategies to recover from an injury or build resilience.

Everything we do at MTNTOUGH is designed to challenge you physically and mentally, but we all need effective strategies and practices that can help us maintain our wellness, and increase performance particularly as we age.

We took a break from filming MTNPT programming to sit down with Tom and talk about the importance of physical therapy, durability, and resilience for mountain athletes. We’ve included that roundtable below, and MTNPT is now live for you in MTNTOUGH+.
