Why We Built It

You don’t need mobility to move mountains – you need it to climb them. Backcountry athletes need to be as nimble and adaptable as the animals they chase. MTN MVMNT 2.0 was created to improve your functional mobility with movements geared toward spinal and core strength and hip, shoulder, wrist and elbow flexibility to keep you agile for years to come. 

Strength training is more than just weight lifting. And yoga is more than just stretching, which is why MTNTOUGH collaborated with Heather Leigh, a certified fitness and wellness coach, to deliver MTN MVMNT 2.0 to our community. This program will help you build lean muscle mass and develop stronger joints through a sequence of movement patterns that beginners, intermediate and elite athletes can use to elevate and enhance their fitness regime. 

By incorporating MTN MVMNT 2.0 into regular workouts, mountain athletes will experience increased flexibility and mobility as well other side benefits like decreased stress, improved mental clarity and mindfulness, and better sleep – necessary ingredients to become a holistic and healthy backcountry athlete. 

This program includes six 12-minute workouts that can be done individually or sequentially along with two longer full-body workouts to incorporate into your routine. MTN MVMNT 2.0 also has four short bonus videos that provide ways to add quick mobility stretches at the office, after a day of travel, before you put on a heavy pack and a full body cool-down to use as needed. These options make MTN MVMNT 2.0 scalable – depending on your fitness level and your time commitment.

Meet the Coach
Heather Leigh

Heather trains individuals and groups across multiple modalities, concentrating her fitness practice around a holistic approach to physical training, nutrition, mindset and spirituality. With over 25 years of coaching and training experience, she has led fitness and yoga retreats around the world while continually taking classes to evolve her training and improve her understanding of the body and mind. 

“I strive to coach with passion and compassion using knowledge and experience,” says Heather. “I teach people to be patient with their practice.”

Heather recently opened her own studio and currently teaches a variety of fitness methods, including power yoga, hot yoga, HIIT, pilates, yoga sculpt and more. She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and holds a 500-hour Certified Yoga Teacher certificate with other certificates in nutrition, barre, Pilates mat and more.
